The Bluffs at Blowing Rock marks a pioneering venture by developer Jay Harrill, who first discovered the potential of this property at the age of 19. Acquired by Foscoe in the summer of 2021 after a direct call from the landowner, this development represents the first project of its kind in Blowing Rock, NC. Construction began in 2022, with the first closings occurring in 2023. This development is distinguished not only by its innovative approach but also by significant infrastructural contributions, including a developer-installed water and sewer system. The Bluffs of Blowing Rock also introduces brand new floorplans, tailored to enhance the living experience amidst the stunning natural backdrop of this unique location.

The Summit at Echota, with pre-sales starting in October 2019 and its first building closing in May 2021, introduced an exclusive living experience tailored for owners. Emphasizing a sense of community and exclusivity, The Summit at Echota has a six-month minimum rental requirement, ensuring a stable and owner-oriented environment. Featuring timber-frame accents crafted by the affiliate company Harmony Timberworks, this development is marked by its elevated finishes that add a touch of elegance. These highly sought-after homesites sold out during a remarkable one-day sale in 2006, with all original buyers being current Echota owners who received pre-sale priority as a token of loyalty.

The first phase of the Echota development marks a pioneering vision by developer Mark Harrill, creating the area’s first master-planned community. Strategically located near Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk, Echota offers stunning views of Grandfather Mountain and a mix of condominiums, townhomes, and single-family homes, with amenities including a clubhouse, indoor pool, and fitness center

With starting prices at $69,900, Hawk’s Peak set a precedent for affordable luxury in the area, combining scenic beauty with accessible pricing. This development not only showcased Foscoe’s capabilities in handling comprehensive construction projects but also strengthened its reputation as a leading developer in the region.

The Inn at Hawk’s Peak, established in 1996, is a key development that arose from the innovative transformation of a former hotel into condominiums. This project not only repurposed an existing structure but also led to the creation of Foscoe Rentals. By converting the old hotel into a residential complex, Foscoe Companies expanded their portfolio and demonstrated their capability in modernizing and revitalizing properties. This initiative effectively established The Inn at Hawk’s Peak as a community that melds historical elegance with the conveniences of modern living, setting a precedent for future developments.

Southern Skies, established in 1995, offers an exclusive enclave of single-family home lots, meticulously designed to emphasize both spectacular views and privacy. The Lakes Community

The Lakes Community, developed in partnership with Appalachian Log Cabins homes, offers a quintessential mountain living experience through its diverse array of log cabin homes. This picturesque development features five distinct floorplans, allowing residents to choose a design that best suits their lifestyle needs. The community is quaintly laid out along Jaybird Lane and Bradley Blvd, streets named in honor of the Harrill family’s sons, adding a personal touch to the neighborhood’s charm. Comprising approximately 70 cabins, Lakes Community has evolved over the years, with many of these cabins now serving as popular vacation rentals managed by Foscoe Rentals.

Hemlock Village

Hemlock Village marks a distinctive chapter in the history of Foscoe Companies as the first development to feature log cabins. In a strategic move, Foscoe formed a partnership with Appalachian Log Homes and became a franchisee, leveraging their expertise in log construction. This collaboration enabled the creation of custom floorplans specifically designed to enhance the rustic charm and functionality of log cabin living. Hemlock Village not only expanded Foscoe’s architectural diversity but also established a niche market offering unique, custom-designed homes that cater to those seeking a traditional, yet personalized, mountain living experience.

Sugar Cottages

Sugar Cottages holds a special place in the history of Foscoe Companies as its very first development. Initiated shortly after founders Mark and Missy got married, this charming project began when Mark acquired land from a bank as part of a package deal while he was hired to sell out Sugar Top. Reflecting on customer feedback, Mark and Missy custom-designed five unique cottages, creating floorplans that directly responded to what potential buyers expressed they wanted in a mountain home. These thoughtfully designed floorplans were later utilized in another Foscoe development, Hemlock Village, demonstrating their popularity and functionality.
