about foscoe companies
“It’s easy to sell what you love.”
— Mark Harrill
Named after our “hometown” of Foscoe, NC, an unincorporated community with a population of less than 1,700, Foscoe Companies is proud to be among the lucky few whose roots run deep in the shadow of Grandfather Mountain just six miles south of Boone, and whose branches flourish in businesses dedicated to the area’s prosperity and sustainability. Small but mighty, our team consistently delivers above and beyond expectations. And it all started with a basic skill called “listening.”
The Story of Foscoe Companies
You Can Gain A Lot By Listening.
Foscoe Realty and Development was founded in 1987 by an earnest young man named Mark Harrill who, quite frankly, put his entire heart and soul into building his dream of bringing the best of High Country living to families who shared his passion.
Through careful observation and adept listening to the desires of the marketplace, Mark discovered the magic formula that delivers properties — whether single family, or multi-family, large or small. The magic? A sincere desire to help families realize their own dreams. In Mark’s humble words, “It’s easy to sell what you love.”
A Small But Mighty Team.
Joined by his wife, Missy, an accomplished interior designer and licensed general building contractor, it wasn’t long before Foscoe Construction was established. Later, Foscoe Rentals was created to meet the needs of second homeowners who wished to support home costs through rental income.
Developing, building, selling, and managing properties, Foscoe Companies established a strong reputation for providing what the High Country needed — homes that are marketable, affordable, and attractive, while respecting the natural settings.
Born and Raised to Serve the High Country.
Mark and Missy’s sons, Jay and Brad, were literally raised in the business — playing in the dirt of job sites, observing amenities during vacation travel, and soaking in the family dinner table discussions that often revolved around buyers, sellers, contractors, marketing, and sales. Each son thrived in their natural interests within the family business.
Clearly, Mark had planted strong roots that left the family well prepared for success upon his passing in 2022. Today, Jay and Brad join Missy in important roles in the business and make a mighty team of their own.
A New Generation with Deep-Rooted Values.
Jay is a natural salesman, visionary, and yes, a listener. He has a knack of bringing to market what people are looking for. In fact, he led the company to a watershed moment when he fulfilled his father’s vision and secured the property for what is now The Summit at Echota–a property that Mark had eyed for many years.
Jay’s first solo project was The Bluffs at Blowing Rock, where he successfully demonstrated his ability to branch out and drive growth for Foscoe Companies. His efforts have propelled the business on an upward trajectory, consistently expanding and evolving our vision under his leadership.
Brad has always had an affinity for building and never lost his love for being on the job site. After earning a degree in construction management from Appalachian State, he became Project Manager, working on all phases of single-family and multi-family construction and oversees all renovations and remodels.
A Long-Range View: Commitment for Future Generations.
Today, Foscoe Companies is poised for an era of unprecedented success. With the daily leadership operations in the capable hands of Jay, Missy Harrill’s role is deeply committed to supporting Jay and Brad with the vision of every Foscoe development, advancing the design aesthetic and shaping lifestyle experiences.
Her involvement ensures three decades of experience is honored as the companies advance to new ideas and partnerships including long term, multi-generational legacy properties. Built on the Harrill family’s legacy of listening to what High Country buyers want and exceeding their expectations, the company is stronger than ever.
